Facing a global problem
Buildings are a major contributor to global warming. In fact, building and construction activities worldwide consume three billion tons of raw materials every year, which is about 40 per cent of total global use. Here at AJ+C, we believe that new ways of thinking - and design - can build sustainable communities. We call this process Ecologically Sustainable Design (ESD).
Leaders of ESDEstablished as leaders of ESD in Australia, AJ+C is now implementing its award-winning approach to international projects. Landmark developments, such as Kogarah Town Square, Sydney, set new benchmarks in the reduction of carbon fuels by promoting solar energy and the conservation of water. Whether it’s a single house, adaptive re-use of an existing building, large office bloc, or an entire city - all projects are workshopped by a core group of environmental design specialists. These people are dedicated to finding project-specific ways of harnessing wind, water and sun through design.
