Kogarah Town Square set a new benchmark for urban and environmental design in Australia. In creating an iconic town centre for the Sydney suburb of Kogarah, AJ+C led community consultation and embraced the forefront of environmental technology. The development is multi-layered, comprising of retail outlets, privately owned apartments, basement car park, an expansive public foyer/library space, and the Town Square itself.

Innovative application of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) principles were used in the design and development of a cutting-edge water management strategy, using photovoltaic arrays for power generation, the use of passive solar design in the residential units, and maximising natural ventilation.
